While in the Air Force JD earned an MBA from University of North Dakota. JD then moved to Ely, Minnesota, where he was chief operating officer and chief academic officer at Vermilion Community College. He served there two years before he decided he would retire for good.

JD moved to Alamogordo New Mexico in 2002 to get out of the cold. From 2003-2013 JD was instrumental in the Alamogordo Music Theatre. He produced three plays and he wrote two plays.

In 2010 the Pecos League announced the arrival of the White Sands Pupfish. Droddy was immediately intrigued and served as a host family in 2011 for the Pupfish. JD housed three members of the Pupfish and wanted to be a part of the league. JD was the team photographer and helped with a variety of roles.

In 2012 the Pecos League expanded to Trinidad Colorado taking White Sands assistant Coach Justin Lowery and naming him manager. Lowery immediately named JD assistant coach. "I got used to having a microphone every day. I believe the production crew did it right. Six months from now the Triggers will be a household name and I am glad to be a part of it. I have done a lot of things in my life and I have enjoyed my time with the Triggers."

Meet John Sullivan the 6"6" relieve

Meet John Sullivan the 6"6" reliever from the Trinidad Triggers who might have a second career in acting and singing.

John Sullivan will be one of the most popular stars on the Pecos League"s reality show here is Q and A with Sullivan.

How did you get into the Pecos League?
I graduated from UNC Charlotte in May 2010 and enrolled at Pfeiffer University for graduate school in August 2010. While attending Pfeiffer, I had the opportunity to pitch for their Division II baseball team. As the 2010/2011 season came to an end, myself and a few teammates began traveling the east coast for professional baseball league tryouts. In late winter 2012, I received a phone call from Justin Lowery and accepted his offer to pitch for the Trinidad Triggers.

Why did you come to the Pecos League?
My dream has always been to play professional baseball. When the Pecos league contacted me to play independent baseball, I knew it was a great opportunity. My goal was to play in the independent league to gain experience, in hopes of getting called to play for an affiliated club.

What did you enjoy most about the Pecos League?
Although it was tough leaving North Carolina, I enjoyed playing in the Pecos league. The best part was meeting so many talented baseball players- all chasing their dreams. We werent playing for money or fame, but for the sport we love. The commitment, positive mindset, and determination helped me grow outward and learn more about myself... and that is priceless.

What are you doing with acting/singing?
I"ve been around music for most of my life; the start was piano, which I played from age 4 to 17. I pursued baseball for about 7 years and then picked up the guitar about 2 years ago. I taught myself to play and its now my favorite hobby. I play every day and write whenever the inspiration hits me. After a year of practice, I started playing gigs at some local bars in Charlotte, NC. Last season in Trinidad, Joey Salazar and the owners at Brix Sports Bar and Grille allowed me to play gigs to entertain and make extra cash. I am currently pursuing a music career, playing gigs often and writing/recording my own music. Music allows me to be myself and share experiences with listeners that can relate in their own personal way. As for acting, I"m never opposed to anything new and exciting.

What can you tell us about the reality show?
During my first season with the Triggers, the catcher Rob Herman introduced me to John Henion. John was filming a behind-the-scenes pilot with the goal of making a "docu-reality" show about independent baseball. After the season ended I stayed in contact with John and before the start of the 2013 season, he was given the go-ahead to film the Triggers for an entire season. The "docu-reality" would follow the team throughout the season; showcasing the team"s ups, downs, and everything in between. It was a bit overwhelming at first since we were surrounded by cameras. We were filmed brushing our teeth, eating, practicing, lifting weights, pre-game exercises, during the game, and post-game. The production crew was great to work with and as time passed, we got used to the filming routine. It was an awesome experience to be part of an emotional and unscripted show. I"m thankful for the opportunity and looking forward to watching the show in March. Fans can contact Sully

Three pitchers from the 2013 editio

Three pitchers from the 2013 edition of the Trinidad Triggers are setting the world on fire in "higher" leagues this year. Anthony Smith is pitching for the defending Frontier League champion, Schaumburg Boomers, while Nick Mutz and Eric Yardley are with the San Diego Padres Class A affiliate in Fort Wayne, Indiana. All three are sporting superlative statistics, even better than they had in the Pecos League. While this may be a surprise to many, followers of the Triggers know that it is the "norm" for Triggers pitchers who are promoted to higher leagues, a reflection of the difficulty encountered by pitchers in the hitter-friendly Pecos League, where the fields are at high elevations and often small. At Schaumburg, Smith is being used as a reliever and has been perfect so far, not yielding a single earned run. At Fort Wayne, Mutz is a closer and has an ERA of 1.54, with 21 strikeouts and 7 bases on balls. Yardley, who joined Fort Wayne after an extended Spring Training, has an ERA of 1.35, with 15 strikeouts and 4 walks. His WHIP (Walks and Hits per Innings Pitched) is below one (0.975), which is a fabulous statistic. "Each of these guys was a big contributor to our success in 2013, and we are extremely proud of all of them," commented Triggers Manager, JD Droddy. "I fully expect each of them to continue to move up the ranks of professional baseball and perhaps one of them will become the first Pecos League player to reach the Major Leagues."
