JD Droddy is proud to unveil the Trinidad Triggers Baggage Wagon. JD has spent the last several weeks building it from his home in Alamogordo. The Triggers 2012 schedule had them home 10 days and away 10 days do to their isolated location from the rest of the league. One of the hassles the Triggers faced was dealing with equipment. In 2013 the Triggers will be dealing with much shorter trips due to the new Northern Divison of the League. It looks the Triggers will be riding in style. Triggers Luis Pardo Goes to Orioles

Luis Pardo, the ace of the Trinidad Triggers pitching staff in 2012, is headed to the minor league Spring Training camp of the Baltimore Orioles. Pardo was 4-3 in 2012, with an ERA of 7.8 in the hitter-friendly Pecos League. His ERA was inflated by one bad outing, which came on his birthday July 14, in which he gave up 14 earned runs in 2 1/3 innings. Bad outings, however, were rare for Pardo. His 92 mph fastball had excellent movement and outstanding control. He had 53 strikeouts and 25 bases-on-balls for a strikeouts-to-walks ratio of 2.12.

"The bottom line for Luis is that he combines power with movement and control," said JD Droddy, Field Manager of the Triggers who was the team’s Assistant Manager in 2012. "He really knows how to pitch, which is even more important than raw skills. We"re confident that he will do well in affiliated baseball. And, he is a great team mate. We will all be cheering for him," Droddy added.

Trinidad Triggers Name Alex Ferguson Assistant Manager

Alex Ferguson, 32, Head Baseball coach at Principia College (Illinois), has joined the Trinidad Triggers" staff as Assistant Manager. The Triggers operate in Trinidad, Colorado, as one of ten teams in the independent Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs, which has teams in Colorado, New Mexico,and Texas. Ferguson has been head baseball coach at Principia since July 2011. Prior to that, he was Head Baseball Coach and Adjunct Instructor of Sports Management at Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He has a B.A. in Sports Management and an M.Ed. in Teaching and Learning – Health, Physical Education, and Coaching.

In addition to his head coaching experience, Ferguson has served as an instructor/coach for the Tom Urquhart School of Baseball in Overland Park, Kansas, Assistant Baseball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Northern State University, as well as several other baseball positions. During college, he worked in the Athletic Department at the University of Kansas, where his duties included working on the grou

TRIGGERS SIGN DIVISION I ALL AMERICAN JUSTIN KLINE - Justin Kline of Aberdeen, South Dakota, has accepted the Triggers offer to play in 2013. Kline is a 6"1", 190 pound, catcher. He was the 2008 South Dakota Player of the Year. At NCAA Division I North Dakota State University, Kline was a 2009 Louisville Slugger All-American, as well as being named a 2009 Ping Baseball All-American. He made 29 of this 33 starts in 2009 behind the plate. He finished seventh in the NCAA Divi sion I Stats with a .439 batting average. He led the Bison in slugging (.576) and on-base percentage (.503) and was second in stolen bases. After playing for NDSU for two years, he transferred to Presentation College in his home town, where his father was the athletic director. At presentation, he was coached by the Triggers new Assistant Manager, Alex Ferguson. The Triggers are excited to have Justin in a Triggers uniform in 2013. We are expecting a big contribution from him at the plate and on defense.

Triggers meet with City Officials in Trinidad

JD Droddy and Kim Schultz met with City Officials in Trinidad to discuss the current situation of the Triggers. As of Halloween the Trinidad Triggers appeared that they were done. Not due to lack of support but due to political issues. There was a disagreement and misunderstanding about the Triggers and Trinidad State Junior College. And with no City Attorney and no City Manager there was no authority on who to turn to.

Today Kim Schultz and JD Droddy met with Trinidad City Manager Ralph Gagliardi, Trinidad Mayor Bernadette Baca Gonzalez, Trinidad State Junior College, President Dr. Charles Bohlen, Rich Holden and Coach Torrez from TSJC.

The purpose of the meeting was try to resolve issues and allow to the Triggers to have an option to play in Trinidad. The big issue at hand was the condition of the playing surface at Central Park. There had been accusations that the Triggers had badly damaged the playing surface which would cost TSJC money to repair. JD Droddy made very clear that this was not correct and had people on hand to testify in his defense. Once the discussions of conditions of the field were addressed the meeting was positive. Trinidad State Junior College will support the Triggers playing in Trinidad and agree that the Triggers are good for the community. There was a main disagreement of the condition of the field from when the Triggers arrived to when they ended. Many people believe the field was in much better shape. Should the Triggers play again in Trinidad in 2013, there would be a memorandum of understanding between TSJC and the Pecos League about expectations. Everyone agreed that the Triggers are very good for Trinidad. We were going to establish lines of communication. The Triggers also need to recognize and support TSJC in a better manner.

"Put us back on the schedule" says JD Droddy," I want to be in Trinidad, this is the best city in the Pecos League by far. We have great support from everyone, this was a misunderstanding. The Triggers need to play in Trinidad and in the Pecos League. With me being a new coach and TSJC having a new coach we will work out differences."

Pecos League Commisioner Andrew Dunn did not attend the meeting. The schedule is due out on November 15th, the prelimary schedule does not have the Triggers in Raton or Trinidad.

The Mayor was very much in favor of keeping the Triggers. She personally called Andrew Dunn and said she just wanted to move forward and not lose the team in Trinidad. Moving the Triggers to Raton would have killed their work and momentum they had from the first year. Raton may still get up to six of the regular season games in the Triggers schedule. Many people also want to keep the original logo on the hats and keep the name of the team the Trinidad Triggers.

In 2007 the City of Raton removed the Public Swimming Pool and built the "The Million Dollar Ballpark". The total cost was over one million dollars so the name stuck.

2008 was the first year the field was used by Raton High School and various College Games have been hosted at this ballpark. The City of Raton has invited the Pecos League to play in Raton in the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Originally Roswell was going to have Spring Training in Raton in 2013.

JD Droddy has been with the Trigg

JD Droddy has been with the Triggers since day 1. He will continue as field manager/director of baseball operations in 2013. There were questions about his health that have been answered. The Triggers were going to hire a new field manager for 2013 season but JD Droddy and a soon to be named assistant will be running the operations for the Triggers. JD has been very active signing and recruiting players to join the Triggers for the 2013 season. JD lives in Alamogordo and is excited for the 2013 season.

The Trinidad Triggers will have one

The Trinidad Triggers will have one of the key pitchers back. Chris Tuttle pitched for the Triggers in 2012. Chris went 3-3 with a 3.54 era in 58.1 innings pitched. Tuttle rotated roles for the Triggers as started relieved and closed.

The Trinidad Triggers have kicked off their 2013 signing class by signing Sam Briend. Sam comes from a familiar source for the Trinidad Triggers the New York Federals. He pitched for the Federals in 2011. He is from Cummings, Ga and pitched for the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels in Atlanta Georgia.

The Triggers will be attending the Pecos League Tryouts in Houston and Phoenix and the Houston Spring League in preparation for the 2013 season.

The Pecos League has reviewed the 2012 books for the Trinidad Triggers. There has been widespread accusations of the Trinidad Chamber of Commerce mishandling money. After the Pecos League audit neither Kim Schultz nor Tom Davis nor anyone at the Chamber took any money. The Chamber was the driving force for the team making it successfully through the season.

"Without Kim Schultz at the Trinidad Chamber, the Triggers would not be where they are. When Justin Lowery was fired the team was in a confused state, Justin told the newspaper that money was gone. Although it may have appeared this way from Justin, I can assure you this is not the case. The Triggers had much higher budgets on advertising and promotions that other teams in the Pecos League did not spend. It was a huge blow for the Triggers with Kim leaving the Chamber. It was a first year team and all first year teams lose money. The team is in great shape and ready to move forward for 2013 season." says Pecos League Commisioner Andrew Dunn

There was an article in Trinidad Chronicle Newspaper stating Ryan Powell was asked back as manager for 2013 season. Ryan was never asked back. In two years Ryan has done a great job as interim manager both in Carlsbad and Trinidad and if that position opens he will be the first person called. He still has a desire to play as he has shown by taking batting practice with the team and running before games. He was also active as a player on the playoff roster. In the best interest of our league we do not allow player managers. Ryan believes he has a couple of years left in him as a player.

Chris Schmidt is the manager of the Trinidad Triggers going forward. The Triggers start Spring Training May 2013 in Trinidad and will open with one of the teams in the Northern Division. The Pecos League hopes that Kim Schultz stays in Trinidad and is able to assist the team in some capacity.

The Trinidad Triggers will change their hat logo and keep the same jerseys similar to the White Sands Pupfish, their colors with remain the same popular Black and Yellow. Unlike White Sands the Triggers sold a lot of hats but decided to change their primary logo and hat to goto a more Western Theme. The Logo was designed after Bat Masterson who was a famous gunman in the area around the turn of the century.

The new Triggers hats will go on sale in January of 2013. They will keep their original Triggers Logo as alternate logo and on their jerseys. The Triggers will keep their famous Gold helmets and Black Jerseys. The Triggers will be getting a Gold second jersey as many of the teams in the Pecos League will wear black as their alternate jerseys. The logo was designed by a firm in Trinidad and will be the teams primary logo.

The saga of the Trinidad Triggers continued Wednesday with news that Kim Schultz had resigned from the Trinidad, Las Animas County Chamber of Commerce.

"Kim was instrumental and 100% responsible for the success of the Triggers through all struggles the city has had with the Ed Gil de Rubio situation and their water district issues, she kept things together mid season when we went through a field manager change. Our office in Trinidad was in the Chamber building, I would expect that to change now. I am not sure the Chamber will be able to operate without her. This is a major blow for the city of Trinidad not just the Triggers. All of the people that recruited the Pecos League to come to Trinidad are gone." says Andrew Dunn of the Pecos League.

The Triggers have been the bright light in an otherwise very tough year in Trinidad Colorado. The Community has made it clear that they want the Triggers to stay in Trinidad. The Pecos League will not announce the new field manager in Trinidad until things are settled within the City. The Pecos League is committed to regrouping and getting ready for the Triggers to play in the 2013 season in the Northern Division against Pueblo West, Farmington and Santa Fe. The Pecos League will be meeting with Trinidad and Pueblo the first week of September to finalize schedules and move forward with the 2013 season.

It"s official the Santa Fe Fuego have joined the Pennant Race. For the third game in a row the Fuego got a great start from Anthony Machado. Combine this with Trent Evins and Kyle Cormier and the Fuego have finally gotten the quality starts they have needed to compete in the Pecos League. It is real simple for the Fuego to make the playoffs they must beat the team in the other dugout which happens to be the fourth place Trinidad Triggers. The White Sands Pupfish have completely collapsed. Trinidad is very inconsistant and Santa Fe is getting better with every game they play. Their record is currently 17-31 but they only trail Trinidad by three games who is 21-28. They still play the Triggers six more times, including a huge series at the end of the season.

The Trinidad Triggers have acquired Cuban Reliever Alexei Gil Perez. Perez is the first Cuban to land in the Pecos League. The Triggers acquired Perez from Richard W Carter of Arlington Texas. Perez was originally set to pitch in Laredo in the American Association. Laredo"s roster was suddenly full so Perez has begun his season with the Triggers. He has made two appearances and has an ERA of 1.29 which is unheard of in the Pecos League. He completely shut the door on White Sands for 7 innings. "He will be quickly promoted to a higher league. I will use him while I have him. He saved us tonight." says field manager Justin Lowery.

Grafton Kent is the first player to be promoted from the Pecos League in 2012 season. Grafton is 29 years old from Savanhan, Ga. He was signed by Justin Lowery. The Triggers played the Diablos two exhibiton games. Kent threw in the 2nd game and drew interest from the Diablos and was signed after the game. "He is a hard throwing lefty with a lot of run" said Jorge Alvarez head coach for the El Paso Diablos. "I am excited for Grafton to goto the American Association. Game 1 of the Pecos League is complete. Trinidad Triggers 4 Santa Fe Fuego 3 the Trinidad Triggers got their offense from Jason Venya. He shocked the crowd and the Fuego with two solo homers. He also played solid defense. The Triggers got a solid start from Luis Pardo who threw six innings striking out ten hitters. The Triggers almost threw the game away when Mario Echeverria threw the ball away on what would have been a for sure double play. Santa Fe only was able to gather three hits, Josh Valle had a huge 2 rbi single that tied the game at two. The Triggers had great entertainment and had 589 fans watch their first ever game on a cold Colorado Tuesday Night. The two teams meet tommorow night in Santa Fe. The new umpiring was substantially better than the 2011 season. The players played crisper and the league is off to a great start. Santa Fe got great scoreless relief from Jermiah Steinart and Joey Garcia. John Sullivan got the save for Trinidad pitching brillantly for 1-2/3 innings.

The Trinidad Triggers will play two exhibition games against the El Paso Diablos in Cohen Stadium May 12 and May 13. These games will serve as the final two games before the Diablos begin their regular season. Originally El Paso was scheduled to play American Association rival Laredo Lumers in these games but the games where canceled. The Trinidad Triggers have released their beer label for their signature Trigger Blonde Ale Beer. The beer will be sold exclusively at Tire Shop Wine and Spirits. Fans and players alike will be invited to a beer tasting event once the beer hits the shelves

The City of Trinidad has begun reco

The City of Trinidad has begun reconstruction of their grandstands. There was major earthquake damage in the Fall of 2011. The Ballpark will be ready for opening day with a complete structural overhaul brick wall and improvements to seating areas. The Triggers host Santa Fe on May 8th at 7:00 PM for the opening game of the 2012 Pecos League Season. City Manager Ed gil De Rubio is in charge of the project and says everything is on course for opening day. TSJC and Trinidad High School are currently playing and practicing on the field. Trinidad Triggers staff Justin Lowery and Kim Schultz proudly presented Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper with a Trinidad Triggers Jersey. The Governor is excited to see pro baseball in Southern Colorado. The jersey was presented to the Governor at an Action 22 Meeting in Denver colorado.

Action 22 is a volunteer-driven membership organization of individuals, cities, communities, counties, associations, businesses and organizations in a 22-county region, banding together for a stronger voice on statewide discussion tables, the State Legislature and in Washington, D.C. Action 22"s mission is to give voice to Southern Colorado and serve as a leader for cohesive action to affect change and shape the future of Southern Colorado.

Trinidad Triggers have released their uniforms for the inaugural 2012 season. They will wear black jerseys with Block tone on tone Gold Trinidad. The Colorado Trigger will be integrated with the D on the Jersey. They will have sponsor patches on both sleeves. All of the gear the Triggers wear will be Rawlings. The Triggers will wear black hats will yellow bill. The Colors will be black and Yellow, The team will wear Yellow helmets and Black Hats with Yellow bills. The Triggers start their inaugural season May 8th, 2012 at home against the Santa Fe Fuego.

The Pecos League of Professional Ba

The Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs and the Trinidad Triggers will offer a custom label beer. Today the team agreed to a custom label with the Triggers logo for both wine and beer. The beer will be a pale amber lager. Today Head Coach Justin Lowery and Assistant Coach JD Droddy dropped by Tire Shop Wine and Spirits to test and approve the beer. "It tastes good" says Lowery.

Tire Shop Wine and Spirits at 601 W Main will have exclusive rights to produce and sell the wine and beer. The Triggers will receive a small portion of the proceeds to help offset their large travel costs. The store is very unique and is the most popular beer store in Southern Colorado. The Triggers are the only team in the Pecos League that could pull off such an event due to the harsh New Mexico alcohol laws and anti-donation laws.

The beer most likely won"t be sold at the games as the Pecos League is likely to have an exclusive contract with Budweiser throughout the league.

The Triggers are going to fit right into the Pecos League where teams are beginning to really have signature items. The White Sands Pupfish are having their own pool installed in right field. The Roswell Invaders have lime green baseballs, jerseys and pants and an alien hanging from the rafters of their stadium.
