July 9 2019 The Trinidad Triggers defeated the Garden City Wind 7-5 in 10 innings at Central Park Trinidad. The Triggers collected 13 hits and overcame a late Garden City rally to secure the extra-inning victory, while the Wind finished with five hits and no errors. Trinidad was charged with one error.
Garden City scored twice in the third inning to take an early lead, but Trinidad answered with three runs in the bottom half. The Wind tied the game with two runs in the eighth and briefly moved ahead with another run in the ninth. Trinidad answered with one run in the bottom of the ninth to make it 5-5, then scored twice in the 10th to finish the win.
Jakob Shuler led Trinidad with two hits, two runs, three RBI and three walks. Cole Fenner added a home run and two RBI as a pinch hitter, while Abel Arocho recorded three hits. Scott Stetson and Kyle Rodriguez each drove in a run, and Thomas JefferiesIV scored once and had two hits. For Garden City, Hunter Villanueva hit a home run and drove in a run, while Joel Garza had a hit and two RBI.
Skyler Henderson earned the win after allowing one run on one hit in two innings, with four walks and five strikeouts. Gabriel Estrada struck out 11 and allowed two runs on two hits in 6.2 innings for Trinidad. Garden City starter Brennan Fischer worked six innings and allowed three runs on seven hits with six walks and three strikeouts. Jonathan Fleckenstein took the loss after recording one out and allowing two runs on two hits in the 10th inning.
