July 3 2019 The Trinidad Triggers defeated the White Sands Pupfish 7-5 after building an early lead with two runs in the second inning two more in the third and three in the fourth. White Sands answered with two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth but could not complete the comeback. The Triggers finished with seven hits while the Pupfish collected eight.
Nick Shumpert powered Trinidad’s offense with two hits two runs and three RBI including a home run. Cole Fenner added a home run and two RBI while Kyle Rodriguez drove in a run. Scott Stetson and Abel Arocho each scored once and reached base three times through hits and walks.
Armando Valentin led White Sands with three hits and two RBI and V. Desai added two hits and an RBI. Gabriel Estrada earned the win for Trinidad after allowing eight hits and five runs over seven innings with nine strikeouts, though only two runs were earned. Ryan Patrick tossed a scoreless eighth with two strikeouts and David Gates worked a scoreless ninth for the save. Adam Murray took the loss for White Sands after allowing seven runs five earned on seven hits in four innings.
