June 29 2019 The Trinidad Triggers defeated the Santa Fe Fuego 16-11 in a high-scoring contest at Fort Marcy Park. Trinidad collected 19 hits and scored in each of the first seven innings, building a 7-0 lead after two innings and extending the advantage to 14-6 through six. Santa Fe answered with five runs in the seventh, but the Triggers held the Fuego scoreless over the final two innings.
Trinidad’s offense was led by N. Shumpert, who went 5-for-6 with three RBI and three runs, and
Scott Stetson, who had three hits, four RBI and a home run.
Thomas JefferiesIV scored four runs, hit two homers and drew two walks, while
Jakob Shuler added three hits, three RBI and a home run.
Abel Arocho and
Kyle Rodriguez also homered for the Triggers, who hit six home runs in the game.
Santa Fe produced 18 hits, including three each by
Sherman Graves and Kyle Butler.
Rick Phillips had two doubles among his two hits and drove in a run, while
Troy Maslowski contributed two hits and two RBI.
Robert Garza hit a solo home run and
Jackson Webb added two hits and an RBI.
Nicholas Dorcean earned the win for Trinidad after allowing eight hits and five earned runs in four innings, with three walks and five strikeouts.
Ryan Patrick,
Taylor Bridges and
Skyler Henderson combined to cover the final five innings, with Henderson allowing two hits and no runs over 2.1 innings.
Tommy Giunta took the loss for Santa Fe, surrendering 15 hits and 13 runs, 10 earned, in five innings while striking out nine.
