June 27 2019 The Santa Fe Fuego defeated the Trinidad Triggers 18-9 at Fort Marcy Park. Santa Fe collected 15 hits and scored in six innings while Trinidad finished with 14 hits and scored in seven innings. The Fuego committed two errors while the Triggers played error-free baseball.
Santa Fe built an 8-3 lead through four innings before breaking the game open with a nine-run fifth. The Fuego added another run in the seventh and finished with 18 runs on the strength of six home runs. Trinidad scored twice in the fifth and seventh innings and twice more in the ninth but could not overcome the deficit.
Jose Garcia led Santa Fe with two hits, three runs and four RBI, including a home run. Robert Garza had two hits and three RBI, while Rick Phillips added a home run and three RBI. Sherman Graves went 5-for-6 with two RBI, and Jose Camacho collected three hits, two doubles and a home run. Trinidads Kyle Rodriguez went 4-for-4 with a home run, two runs and an RBI, while Jakob Shuler had three hits, two runs, two RBI and a home run. Scott Stetson added two hits, two runs and an RBI.
Garcia earned the win after allowing nine hits and five runs over six innings while striking out eight and walking four. Julian Devora and Logan Linder combined to pitch two innings without allowing an earned run, and Linder retired all three batters he faced. Thomas Nelson took the loss for Trinidad, surrendering 12 hits and 13 earned runs in 4 1/3 innings.
