June 23 2019 The Santa Fe Fuego rallied for a 17-16 victory over the Trinidad Triggers at Fort Marcy Park. Santa Fe collected 14 hits and overcame eight errors, while Trinidad finished with 18 hits and two errors in a high-scoring contest.
Santa Fe took an early lead with five runs in the second inning after scoring twice in the first. Trinidad answered with four runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth to move in front, but the Fuego regained control with a seven-run seventh inning. Santa Fe held the lead through the ninth, while Trinidad scored twice in the final frame.
Robert Garza powered Santa Fe with two home runs, two runs and six RBI. Troy Maslowski went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, two runs and three RBI, while Jackson Webb added three hits, three runs, a double, a home run and an RBI. Sherman Graves hit two home runs and drove in three runs.
For Trinidad, Thomas JefferiesIV went 3-for-6 with two runs, and Alejandro Diaz finished 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBI. Abel Arocho hit a home run, scored four runs and drove in one, while D. Gallagher also homered and contributed three RBI. Sean Kiley added two hits and an RBI.
Scott Walton earned the win for Santa Fe after allowing two runs on two hits in one inning. Tommy Giunta started for the Fuego and allowed 12 runs, five earned, on 14 hits in six innings while striking out six. Jose Orta was charged with the loss for Trinidad after allowing three runs in one-third of an inning.
