Garden City Wind Rally Past Trinidad Triggers 9-5

June 18 2019 The Garden City Wind defeated the Trinidad Triggers 9-5 after overcoming an early deficit at Central Park. Garden City finished with 16 hits and one error, while Trinidad collected 12 hits and played errorless baseball.

Trinidad scored twice in the first inning and added another run in the second before Garden City answered with three runs in the fourth. The Triggers regained the lead with single runs in the sixth and seventh, taking a 5-3 advantage, but the Wind broke through with six runs in the eighth inning to take control.

Shane Brown hit a home run and drove in three runs for Garden City, while Nick Snyder also homered and finished with two hits and one RBI. Joel Garza added three hits, and Alvin Swoope had two hits and two RBI. For Trinidad, B. Garcia went 4-for-4, Matt Eureste collected three hits, and Scott Stetson had two hits and three RBI.

Travis Edgar earned the win after recording the final out of the eighth inning, and Austin Willis-Greene worked a scoreless ninth for the save. Jackson Owens allowed four runs, two earned, over 5.2 innings with two strikeouts for Garden City. Trinidad starter Sean Kiley struck out nine and allowed three runs over six innings, while Jake Miller took the loss after surrendering five earned runs in two-thirds of an inning.
