Garden City scored once in the first inning and added two runs in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead. Trinidad answered with a run in the sixth, but the Wind held on for the victory.
Jordan Pontious delivered Garden City’s key offensive production with one hit and two RBI. Russell Schwertfeger and Carson Lee each scored a run, while Brandon Kussmaul and Schwertfeger added hits. Tim Henry led Trinidad with two hits and scored the team’s lone run.
Edwin Lopez earned the win after allowing one run on five hits in six innings, with one walk and five strikeouts. Travis Edgar completed the game with a scoreless seventh inning, allowing no hits while recording two strikeouts. Trinidad starter Gabriel Estrada took the loss despite striking out nine, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks in 6.1 innings.
