June 13 2019 The Garden City Wind scored three runs in the eighth inning to pull away for a 5-2 victory over the Trinidad Triggers. Garden City finished with 12 hits while Trinidad collected eight. The Wind improved to 42-20 while the Triggers fell to 25-31.
Garden City took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning before Trinidad answered with a run in the seventh. The Wind regained the lead in the bottom half of the seventh and broke the game open with three runs in the eighth. Trinidad added one run in the eighth but could not complete the comeback.
Shane Brown went 2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI for Garden City. Carson Lee also went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Brandon Kussmaul drove in a run and went 1-for-4. Cutter McDowell and Nick Snyder each collected two hits. Alejandro Diaz led Trinidad with a 2-for-3 performance and an RBI, while Jakob Shuler had two hits.
Jackson Owens worked six innings for Garden City, allowing four hits and one run while striking out four. Travis Edgar earned the win after allowing one run on three hits in one inning, and Austin Willis-Greene pitched a scoreless ninth for the save. Calvin Luk took the loss for Trinidad despite pitching 7.2 innings, allowing five runs on 12 hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
