Santa Fe Fuego Outlast Trinidad Triggers in 13 Innings

June 4 2019 The Santa Fe Fuego defeated the Trinidad Triggers 9-8 in 13 innings at Central Park in Trinidad. Santa Fe finished with 12 hits and two errors while Trinidad collected 15 hits and committed four errors.

Trinidad took an early 2-1 lead after two innings and extended it to 5-1 through four. Santa Fe answered with four runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to take a 7-5 advantage. The Triggers tied the game with a run in the ninth, but the Fuego scored the go-ahead run in the 13th inning to secure the victory.

Sherman Graves led Santa Fe with five hits in six at-bats, while Rick Phillips scored three runs and added two hits. Jackson Webb went 2-for-6 with two runs and one RBI, and G. Derke added two hits and one RBI. Jonathan Bigley paced Trinidad with three hits and three RBIs.

Kyle Kuttruf was credited with the win after pitching three scoreless innings and allowing two hits while striking out three. Cody Strayer took the loss despite allowing one run in 5.2 innings, with five hits and six strikeouts. Santa Fe pitchers struck out 15 Trinidad batters, while the Triggers recorded 17 strikeouts.
