May 31 2019 The Garden City Wind defeated the Trinidad Triggers 11-4 after scoring in five of the first eight innings. Garden City totaled 12 hits and held a 7-0 lead after two innings, scoring four runs in the first and three in the second. The Wind added two runs in the fourth before Trinidad got on the board in the fifth and sixth innings.
Nick Snyder delivered the biggest offensive performance for Garden City, going 5-for-5 with three home runs, three runs and eight RBI. Brandon Kussmaul added two hits, three runs and an RBI, while Carson Lee went 1-for-3 with two walks and two RBI. Garden City also received two hits from Peter Pena. For Trinidad, Jonathan Bigley went 3-for-4 and Scott Stetson went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
Garden City starter Layne Gusler earned the win after allowing six hits and two earned runs in six innings. He walked two and struck out seven. Austin Willis-Greene followed with a hitless inning, and Jonathan Fleckenstein worked a scoreless ninth. Sean Kiley took the loss for Trinidad after allowing eight hits and seven runs six of them earned in 2.2 innings.
Trinidad scored twice in the eighth inning to trim the deficit to 9-4, but Garden City answered with two runs in the bottom half to secure the victory. The Triggers finished with eight hits and four runs while committing two errors; Garden City finished without an error.
