Trinidad Triggers Outslug White Sands Pupfish 18-11

June 2 2012 The Trinidad Triggers defeated the White Sands Pupfish 18-11 in an offensive battle at Fort Marcy Park. Trinidad collected 16 hits and scored in seven of its eight offensive innings, while White Sands finished with 13 hits and 11 runs.

White Sands erased an early deficit with a five-run fifth inning and added two runs in the sixth to pull within 10-8. The Pupfish moved ahead 11-10 after scoring once in the seventh, but Trinidad answered with four runs in the bottom half and added four more in the eighth to secure the win.

Jacob Fabry led Trinidad with three hits, three runs and three RBI. Clint Stroud and Jonathon Barton also collected three hits, with Barton scoring three times, while Harry Williams Jr. had two hits and three RBI. Colt Loehrs hit Trinidad's only home run and finished with two RBI. For White Sands, Austin Newell went 3-for-5 with a run and a walk, while Cliff Panezich went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Henry Gonzalez Jr. drove in two runs, and Casey Johnson also had two RBI. White Sands hit four home runs: Gonzalez Jr. his seventh of the season, Panezich, Johnson and John Couch.

Miguel Hernandez earned the win for Trinidad after allowing two hits and two runs, one earned, in 1.1 innings with two strikeouts. Gregory McDaniel started for the Triggers and allowed nine hits and six runs in 4.2 innings. Josh Hildebrand took the loss for White Sands, surrendering eight hits and 10 runs, eight earned, in 4.2 innings.
