Fuego Pull Away Late to Defeat Triggers 12-5

July 10 2024 The Santa Fe Fuego defeated the Trinidad Triggers 12-5 behind a 14-hit attack at Central Park. Santa Fe scored twice in the first inning, added five runs in the fourth, two in the sixth, one in the seventh and two in the eighth to pull away from Trinidad, which finished with seven hits and three errors.

Jake Grubesic led the Fuego offensively by going 4-for-6 with three RBI and a double. Ryuya Enomoto added three hits, two runs and an RBI, while Jeremy DiBartolomeo drove in three runs. Zeke Hass scored four times and reached base four times with two hits and two walks. Santa Fe also received two hits and an RBI from Kyler Rinehart.

Humberto Maldonado provided Trinidads biggest offensive performance, hitting two home runs and driving in three runs. Ben Kowalski added a double and an RBI, while Peter Pena had a double and drove in a run for the Triggers.

Greg Salazar earned the win with a complete-game effort, allowing seven hits and five runs, three earned, while walking five and striking out seven over nine innings. Kowalski took the loss after surrendering 12 hits and 10 runs, seven earned, in seven innings with seven strikeouts and two walks. Andrew Mason and D. Slyve each pitched one scoreless inning in relief for Trinidad.
