July 7 2024 The Trinidad Triggers defeated the Santa Fe Fuego 4-2 at Central Park, scoring in the first, second and fifth innings to build a 4-1 lead. Santa Fe answered with a run in the seventh but could not close the gap. Trinidad outhit the Fuego 8-6 and committed no errors, while Santa Fe had one defensive error.
Jakobe Smith and Jacob Mitchell led Trinidad with three hits apiece. Smith doubled twice and drove in a run, while Mitchell doubled and also contributed an RBI. Dustin Chartrand added two hits and scored once. Trinidad also received an RBI from DeMarcus Kelly and drew eight walks as a team.
Cutter Smith earned the win for Trinidad after allowing two runs on six hits in eight innings. He walked five and struck out 10. Angel Garza recorded the save with a hitless ninth inning and one strikeout.
Santa Fe’s Tristan Cavazos went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk, while Kelvin Gutierrez collected two hits and stole a base. Ryuya Enomoto tripled and scored once. Josh Say took the loss despite pitching a complete eight innings, allowing four runs on eight hits with eight walks and five strikeouts.
