July 5 2024 The Trinidad Triggers defeated the Santa Fe Fuego 25-13 in a high-scoring game at Fort Marcy Park. Trinidad collected 24 hits and scored in five of the first seven innings, including three runs in the first, five in the third, eight in the fourth and four in the fifth. Santa Fe finished with 12 hits and was held scoreless through the first four innings before mounting a seven-run seventh-inning rally.
Leyton Barry led Trinidad with a 3-for-3 performance, two home runs, four runs and eight RBI. Humberto Maldonado went 4-for-5 with a home run, three runs and seven RBI, while Jacob Mitchell added three hits, five runs and three walks. Peter Bocchino had three hits and two RBI, and Chris Lopez finished with two hits and three RBI. Trinidad also received two hits and two RBI from Peter Pena.
Trinidad starting pitcher Jacob Faivre earned the win after allowing four hits and two earned runs over five innings, striking out four and walking one. Jacob Mitchell added one inning with two strikeouts. Santa Fe starter Greg Salazar took the loss after surrendering 11 hits and 10 earned runs in 2.2 innings.
Tristan Cavazos paced Santa Fe with three hits, two runs and three RBI, including a home run. Emmanuel Benavidez went 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs and one RBI, while Kevin Gutierrez contributed three hits and two RBI. The Fuego scored twice in both the fifth and sixth innings and added two more in the eighth, but Trinidads early lead proved decisive.
