July 4 2024 The Trinidad Triggers defeated the Santa Fe Fuego 21-7 at Central Park, using a 14-run second inning and a six-run fourth to build a commanding lead. Trinidad finished with 11 hits, while Santa Fe collected 10. The Fuego scored twice in the first, once in the third and four times in the eighth, but could not overcome the deficit.
Jacob Mitchell led Trinidad with three hits, four runs and three RBIs, including a home run and a double. Dustin Chartrand added two hits and four RBIs, Jordan Anderson went 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBIs, and Peter Bocchino contributed two RBIs and three walks. DeMarcus Kelly and Luis Amador also drove in two runs apiece.
Ben Kowalski earned the win for Trinidad after allowing three earned runs on six hits over seven innings with eight strikeouts and three walks. Joel Ballard worked the final two innings, allowing four runs on four hits while striking out three. Santa Fe starter Daniel Benavidez took the loss after surrendering 10 runs nine earned on seven hits in 1.1 innings.
Zeke Hass paced Santa Fe with two hits and four RBIs, while Jason Ramos also recorded two hits. Dominic Scotti and Sean Bennett each added an RBI, but Santa Fe left 12 runners on base and committed two errors. Trinidad had three errors in the game.
