July 3 2024 The Trinidad Triggers defeated the Santa Fe Fuego 14-3 at Central Park on July 3 2024. Trinidad collected 17 hits and scored in five consecutive innings from the fourth through the eighth to secure the victory, while Santa Fe finished with six hits and no errors.
Jacob Mitchell led Trinidad’s offensive attack by going 5-for-6 with four runs scored eight RBI two home runs and three doubles.
Jakobe Smith went 3-for-4 with four runs two RBI and two walks, while
Peter Bocchino added three hits, including a home run, and three RBI.
Trinidad took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning, added three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth, then broke the game open with five runs in the seventh. The Triggers added three more in the eighth. Santa Fe scored once in the sixth and twice in the eighth, but could not close the gap.
Josh Mendez earned the win after allowing two hits and one run, which was unearned, in six innings. He walked three and struck out seven.
