June 2 2024 The Trinidad Triggers overcame an early deficit with a nine-run sixth inning and defeated the North Platte 80s 10-8 at Central Park. North Platte scored five times in the first inning and added three runs in the eighth, but Trinidad answered with one run in the eighth to secure the victory. The Triggers finished with 12 hits while the 80s had six.
Andrew Mason delivered the biggest offensive blow for Trinidad, going 1-for-1 with a home run and four RBI as a pinch hitter. Chris Lopez added two hits, including a home run, with two runs scored and one RBI. Adam Purdy went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, two RBI and a walk, while Jacob Mitchell drove in two runs. For North Platte, Luke Lee hit a home run and finished with two RBI, and Cristofer Hernandez, Tjay Mullins, Coby Tweten, Garrett Flaagan and Seth Christiansen also recorded RBI.
Ben Kowalski earned the win for Trinidad after allowing three hits and five runs, three earned, in six innings while striking out 12. Rafael Castaneda, Armando Duran and Colin Kelly combined to finish the game, with Kelly earning the save after a scoreless ninth. North Platte starter Kerry Wright worked 5.1 innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out six, but Foster1621.html>Kyle Foster was charged with the loss after surrendering five runs without recording an out.
