Trinidad Triggers Roll Past Santa Fe Fuego 33-10

July 13 2023 The Trinidad Triggers defeated the Santa Fe Fuego 33-10 at Fort Marcy Park, scoring 25 runs over the final four innings of the six-inning game. Trinidad broke open the contest with 13 runs in the third inning, added four in the fifth and finished with 12 in the sixth. The Triggers collected 25 hits without committing an error, while Santa Fe had seven hits and one error.

Peter Pena went 5-for-5 with four runs and four RBI for Trinidad, including two home runs. David Arza added four hits, five runs, two RBI and a double and triple, while Jason Rooks went 3-for-3 with four runs, two RBI and a home run. Jacob Mitchell contributed three hits and five RBI, and Russell Cruz drove in four runs with a home run.

Mitchell earned the win after allowing six hits and five earned runs in five innings. He issued five walks but struck out 12. Cruz worked the sixth inning, giving up one hit and five earned runs while walking five.

Santa Fe received two-run home runs from Maurice La Fon and Omar Ortiz, with Ortiz finishing with three RBI. Matt Sanchez took the loss after allowing 13 hits and 15 earned runs in 2.2 innings. Zach Hill, Preston Burnett, Caine Agis and Phillip Buckingham also pitched for the Fuego.
