Trinidad Triggers Defeat Alpine Cowboys 9-6 on June 29 2023

June 29 2023 The Trinidad Triggers defeated the Alpine Cowboys 9-6 at Kokernot Field, overcoming Alpine’s 11-10 advantage in hits. Trinidad scored three runs in the first inning, added one in the fifth, two in the sixth, two in the seventh and one in the ninth. Alpine answered with two runs in the fourth and four in the seventh but could not complete the comeback.

Jake Urena led Trinidad with three hits and five RBI. Jason Rooks went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI, while Peter Bocchino also homered and drove in one run. Jordan Anderson added two hits, two walks and three runs, and David Arza reached base four times with two walks and two stolen bases.

Alpine’s James Prockish collected two doubles and finished with three RBI. Josh Rego and Alex Canty each had two hits, while Mark Traylor had a double and a triple and drove in one run.

Ben Kowalski earned the win for Trinidad after allowing five hits and two earned runs in six innings. He struck out five and walked three. Dakota Rodd gave up four runs in one inning, and Garrett Brown closed with two scoreless innings to earn the save while striking out two.

Shane Hykin took the loss for Alpine despite allowing only two hits in five innings. He was charged with four runs, two earned, while walking seven and striking out five. Alpine committed the game’s only error, and Trinidad’s two-run sixth and two-run seventh helped establish the decisive lead.
