June 29 2022 The Trinidad Triggers rallied late to defeat the Santa Fe Fuego 9-8 in a back-and-forth contest. Trinidad collected 15 hits and overcame an 8-3 deficit after Santa Fe scored three times in the sixth inning. The Fuego finished with 14 hits, and neither team committed an error.
Santa Fe scored once in the first inning and twice in the third before Trinidad answered with three runs in the fourth. The Fuego regained control with a three-run sixth and added single runs in the seventh and eighth to take an 8-3 lead. Trinidad responded with four runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth to complete the comeback.
Yasushi Sanematsu led Trinidad with two hits, including a home run, and three RBI. Adam Purdy added three hits and one RBI, while Jake Urena and Anton Wheeler each had two hits. Nick Sciubba and Peter Pena also drove in runs for the Triggers.
For Santa Fe, Parker DePasquale drove in three runs and had two hits, while Drake Ayala went 3-for-6 with one RBI. Dominick Pisano and Tyler Carpenter each had two hits, with Pisano contributing two RBI. Isaac Olson earned the win for Trinidad after allowing no hits and one run over two innings while striking out three. Santa Fe starter Matt Sanchez struck out eight over seven innings, but Jared Gay took the loss after allowing two runs in one inning.
